In the final stages of publication for my latest book, 'Who'd be a copper?' about the eventful 30 years I spent as a cop in England. I was always in uniform 'at the sharp end' in some of the worst suburbs of Nottingham, Robin Hood country. It must be something in the water but Nottingham traditionally has a very high rate of offending amongst its population. Maybe they are all descendants of Robin Hood and his merry band of thieves?!
Official release date is May 2015 but I've tentatively arranged a book launch for March 7th...
Despite this being my fifth book the publishing stage is still very exciting. This particular book has been two years in the writing. I kept all my diaries from my policing days, as I always do, so putting it all together was a huge amount of fun.

The true account of my thirty years in the British police has now been released. 'Who'd be a copper?' is widely available. It is my personal story of three decades at the sharp end of inner-city policing, as it really happened. I woke up this morning to find my new book, only released this week, was at the number one slot on Amazon UK, in the category 'Police biographies'. A lovely surprise, and very humbling. It means people are reading my book, which of course is what it's all about. While it's a great personal achievement to write a book, the best part, as with most things in life, is the sharing.
A sincere thank you to all concerned.

Are you writing a crime thriller? Does it involve British cops? I've read a lot of thrillers and seen a lot of TV & films about policing in the UK and cringed when I see how unrealistic some of them are. Do you know the biggest problems the British police are currently facing? Yes, the biggest is funding cuts, but another is political correctness; it prevents the police enforcing the law fully due to certain 'sensitivities' they have to acknowledge. The British government have burdened their police with a legal duty to spread 'diversity' which makes them overly sensitive and prevents them treating everyone the same, though they would deny this of course. The police internal discipline system is also being widely abused in an effort to sack police officers to save the wages bill.
I spent 30 years at the sharp end of inner city policing in a multi-cultural area of Britain.
