Michael Goldcraft is a senior biologist and marine ecologist. He fiction reflects his scientific background and adds credibility to his work. For example, when attempting to create "real" vampires and vampyres (there is a difference) Goldcraft has attempted - in a Crichton style - to build biological credibility into his transgenic predators. And his fiction is contemporary, set in present day. His vampyres present a real challenge to law enforcement, including the FBI, and the Panama City Police Department (PCPD). His work is not just horror, but is "multi-genre" and includes significant mystery, detection, police procedural, thriller and science fiction. His work is tightly written and fast-paced. Both Ascent of Evil and Inherited Evil wo ...more

So, what's the best thing about being a writer? The creativity and the satisfaction of slowly becoming more competent at the craft of writing. The second best thing is helping other writers realize their potential, believe in themselves, and become excited. I teach a writing class at our local college and I enjoy that experience. But all writers struggle with creating the story line, especially a credible conclusion. I try to write when I'm well rested, had a cup of coffee (Breakfast of Champions!) and can count on some quiet time to focus. Exercise, eat well, and ask the great question: What if? Most of the time, you'll escape writer's block. Best wishes, Michael Goldcraft(less)

The Unknown Province - An Introduction

THE TOTAL NUMBER OF HUMANS that has ever lived is approximately 110 billion. Of
those, about 6% or just over seven billion are alive today. Ten thousand years ago – 8,000 BC – there were only about one million humans on earth; that is million, not billion. It takes 1,000 million to equal 1 billion.

So where did 103 billion humans go? Did they simply die and cease, forever, to exist? Were their souls Read more of this blog post »

Michael Goldcraft I invite you to enter my world of biologically-credible vampires and vampyres (there is a difference). The Darke Lyfe Trilogy was written to wash away your disbelief. Vampires are real, ruthless predators. They could be anyone on the street or in the mall. No mythology; just mystery, madness, and murder. The trilogy begins with:

Ascent of Evil
Anthropologist Steven Atticus found more than a preserved Viking corpse in that cold Canadian Lake. He found the progenitor of the vampyre race. And now he and a special task force, including the FBI, race to prevent the unthinkable from happening in a city by the sea -- because vampyres are real, genetically-altered predators. Harrison Van Gilter is one of those predators, and now Panama City, Florida is his for the taking.
From the Canadian savannah to the Netherlands; and from Florida to Suriname -- the hunt is on. A hunt for victims, a serial killer, and a global race of predators. Predators whose prey is the dominant species on earth!

Inherited Evil
Harrison Van Gilter is back: cold, cunning, and cruel. And all the good within Panama City, Florida may not be enough to contain him.
Dr. Steven Atticus and his friends are fighting time, weather, and malevolence to save the citizens of a coastal city viciously held hostage.
From New Orleans to Suriname, from a federal court to the center of a hurricane, the predators are on the move, and the vampyre trail is littered with kidnappings, predatory attacks, viral infection, and death. The vampyre's vision is now reality, because Harrison Van Gilter has inherited evil!

Arcanum of Evil
Finally Finished - Now Available
The final tome of The Darke Lyfe Trilogy!

Washington, DC, reincarnation, soul swapping, cloning, cryogenics, and crime. There is nothing worse than a ruthless, rogue vampyre who has manged to return from the dead, possess a new body, and lust for his psychopathic revenge. Harrison Van Gilter has returned to earth for the final epic battle between good and evil. And this time, he has the full force on Satan's evil on his side! All of the original characters, each aged 14 years, age back. Back to face a new form of evil. All the trouble begins on January 1, 2012. It's going to be a hell of a year!

And don't miss my Thirteen Tales of Eclectic Evil, a short story collection that will keep you up at night...night after night after night.
