As a little girl I'd read 2 to 3 books a day. At my local library, the "MLK Library"
the staff would look for me to come in every day after school. I became friends with the librarian.
Reading different books all the time not only sharpened my comprehension skills but reading took me to places I've never been before and still might not get to travel to those places in a life time. Reading allowed me to escape the daily stresses that comes from growing up in the inner city.
Reading also afforded me to have more options in life. Reading showed me I could become a chef, a movie star or an author. Reading just "takes me away".
