"Diminished Capacity" is a critically acclaimed novel based on a real-life event. It is the story of a 2010 Minnesota rape case involving an adult male who sexually assaults a minor female. In frank terms, the author walks the reader through this technically extensive and highly controversial courtroom case.
One of the unique aspects of this story, is that the man who committed the crime has 47,XXY-Klinefelter syndrome (KS), a genetic chromosomal disorder. This disorder is prevalent in 1 out of every 500-800 males worldwide, and there is growing evidence that the atypical psychological behaviors often found in these adult males leads to problems with the law, including sexual behaviors. Too many KS adult males are serving prison sentences, and the man involved with this story is one of them.

Of interest is that, despite the book's controversial subject of a man sexually assaulting a minor, a list of reviewers with professional backgrounds in law and medicine have rated it an excellent read and gave it five stars on Goodreads.com. Overall, most of all reader reviews agreed that the areas of medical negligence and courtroom misconduct should be more intensely scrutinized.

I'm writing this blog on November 29, 2016. In reading the excellent reviews that have come in since the June publication of my novel, "Diminished Capacity," one thing has become clear.
As I've mentioned in the past, the subject matter is controversial, for it is a fictional courtroom drama based on a real-life event, and deals with an after-the-fact trial by jury of a man already sent to prison for the rape of a child. This is all explained shortly into the book.
One startling fact of the case was who the victim was. Without getting into details, thus giving the reader the shocking opening to the story, the first part of the book needed to set up what is to come.
Some reviewers have written, as one reader stated, that she found it hard to get through those first gut-wrenching pages, and had to put the book down to calm her nerves. She decided to read on and was glad she did, because the rest was so intriguing and dramatic, it was hard to put down.
