Posthumousity

“Your book? You're a writer?" she said with all of the emphasis
suggesting that nothing I had done up to that point indicated that I could
perform such an arduous task.” Posthumousity: Death Made Me Famous

Therapy through Words

I have always taken things from my life that need to be aired out and infused it into my writing. It helps to have such an outlet to be able to process mental roadblocks to heal and then move on. I like to call it therapy through words.

Film Lobby Article

Full Circle by Philip Wohl

We all may be getting older, but that doesn’t mean that we’re becoming wiser. Think back to the days when we were younger and had the freedom to run around our neighborhoods unabated and free to create on our own terms. Bikes were our mode of transportation and authority figures weren’t hovering over us every five seconds trying to dictate the direction of our days.
Flash forward to today and you might ask yourself, “What the heck am I doing?” All of the joys we experienced as youths (aside from school and other junk we had to do!), as well as the beginning of our journey as artists, have gone away because we are always waiting for someone else to either tell us what to do or give their almighty opinion about our output.
There have been points in my writing life that I have needed that affirmation, looked for a way to hook up with a publishing company or got drunk just thinking about being a famous author. But, my friends, I am here to tell you that I had it all wrong! I have come full circle and stayed true to writing because it takes me away from the grind, helps me piece together key shards of my life and takes me back to that first kiss and the freedom of being able to plan my own adventures.
I have also discovered something very powerful over the years: IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT YOU! Why did you start writing, acting or creating? Although our gene pools were rich with creative talents, it was the influence of a person in the know that actually propelled us to this sweetest of all struggles. My hero was an 11th grade English teacher, and now I give my time to talk to school-age kids about doing what you love and pursuing your passion (no matter what it may be).
So, by giving of ourselves and attempting to guide the next generation to greater heights, we are also enriching our own lives by rediscovering the reason why we walked this path in the first place. My life now imitates my art in that I just simply want to get my point across and better someone else’s day. I hope you will join me on this journey.
