16 Days into New Beginnings

Picture We're sixteen days into 2023, and so far, so good, considering we started with Mercury in retrograde. Of course, a few things have been wonky, but overall, things have been positive and productive. What about you? The start of the new year has been very different from the past few years, and I hope the year will continue to blossom and grow as each month passes. I’ve set a few goals for the year and am looking forward to achieving them all. I’ve chosen the imagery of a bicycle as my mainstay––my beacon if you will. Why a bike? Because you must pedal to move forward, which is what I want for this year––forward motion with no backpedaling. The past is gone, and I’m quite tired of ruining the present by going back and revisiting all the moments I wish I could’ve changed. As rough as it all was, I now know it was necessary to be where I am today.

When I made my post about the rusted, empty bucket at the beginning of December, I struggled every day to find a fragment of joy to get into the holiday spirit, but I couldn’t.  The past few years had drained me to the point of exhaustion for anything “extra,” and the holidays felt extra for sure. However, despite my state of mind, I continued to push toward December 31st with a single-minded determination, and when the clock turned to 2023, EVERYTHING would change with a single thought…I would make the necessary changes to bring about mental joy and peace, freeing my mind to get back to the things I love to do––writing, creating, and learning.

Are you listening to the messages from above? Have you spoken to your angels? Asked your higher power for guidance when you feel lost?

What are you hoping to manifest or bring about this year? It can’t be achieved if you don’t speak it out loud. You need to hear it with your own ears as much as you need to manifest/pray for it.

Are you writing or creating anything? It can be anything. What are you ACHIEVING? Baking, writing, singing, journaling, reading through your book list, making art, etc. The list is endless, and that is the point. Do one small thing for yourself this year and see how they add up when we get to the end of 2023.

Let’s check-in. Let’s be there for one another as we pedal forward into new possibilities. We’ve got this!

December 1, 2022

Hello December!

Picture Bucket photo by Haven't The Slightest I cannot believe it’s December 1st. This year has been a doozy from beginning to end with all its changes and adjustments. Looking at the calendar, I can’t help but think about the last 31 days of 2022. This rusty old bucket is a visual of how I’ve been feeling lately. I don’t mind being “vintage,” but when I try to do things to “fill” my bucket with joy, love, peace, and gratitude, it goes out as quickly as it went in, leaving a “hole,” if you will. All of this has led me to this moment and the theme of the next thirty-one days.

What do you do to fill your bucket? It’s the holiday season, and no matter what you celebrate, it brings with it decorations, gifts, gatherings, food, shopping, etc. It’s day one of December, and I’m still trying to find my Christmas spirit. I’m looking for the “magic” it used to hold and the joy it used to bring. I’m not saying I’m feeling Grinchy or Scrooge-ish; I’m saying I want it to mean more than checking things off the “To Do List.”

I used to bake and start decorating the day after Thanksgiving, but this year, I’m struggling to get into the groove. That is where you all come in…I’m going to post and share on Instagram and Facebook and ask you all what brings you joy and fills your holiday bucket. My thought is that I can/will live vicariously through you as we tackle the last days of 2022. I think a new perspective will be just what I need to shake off the doldrums. I REALLY WANT to experience organic joy from the little things in life. I want to repair the bucket and fill it to the rim with everything that makes life so grand and glorious. So, what do you say? Are you up for the challenge of sharing your traditions and your holiday spirit with me? I love learning new things, and I can’t wait to see what brings each of you joy!

Much Love,
Brynn

From Blood to Ink is a RONE AWARD Nominee!!

Picture
HELLO, 2022 RONE AWARDS!

Unsure of what a RONE Award is? Well, beginning in January, InD’tale Magazine starts the year by having a professional staff of reviewers read and review books. Any books given a 4.5-star rating or higher qualify as a nominee. Once the nominees have been selected, they are then turned over to the reading public to vote. The books with the highest number of public votes progress to become finalists. The final step is a group of industry professionals consisting of editors, writers, professors, etc., to judge the finalists based on a one to five scale from a specific list of requirements such as characterization, overall arc, editing, etc.   Those scores will then be tallied by a professional company unrelated to InD’tale or its employees to determine the winner of the coveted RONE award and the honorable mentions. BAM! There it is. The very best books in the Indie and Small publishing industry are awarded the prestigious RONE award.

So, there you have it, and I’m HONORED to say that From Blood to Ink is one of the nominees in the Paranormal Long category.

During the week of April 25th-May 1st, if you’re so inclined, will you please follow the link below and vote for my book? I would greatly appreciate it. This month marks From Blood to Ink’s one-year “book birthday," and I cannot think of a better way to celebrate it than by giving Indigo, Cilla, and the rest of the cast and crew of From Blood to Ink the gift of “award-winning book” in the paranormal, long category.

Picture Picture Picture Paranormal romance author, Indigo James, is under deadline to produce a book, but her muse is not cooperating. Feeling stuck, she joins her sister for a night out and ends up in the crosshairs of the gods of chaos and fear. The two gods bet they can turn Indigo from a mid-list author to a best-selling one. Indigo wakes up with blood on her keyboard and a completed manuscript she doesn't remember writing. The god of fear wants his chance, and his methods are less than pleasant. With her sister's life at stake—not to mention her own—Indigo is forced to write a second book that she despises. As the lines between fiction and reality blur, Indigo discovers an agenda that will create chaos and change her reality forever, unless she can take on a few gods and win.

"Blood and Ink" cleverly weaves a story within a story in a spellbinding plot that keeps readers hooked! The sisterly bond between Indigo and her sister reminds us of the power of family and how far we will go to protect those we love. When the gods force Indigo to use her talents to produce a best seller, story reality collides with Greek mythology, which collides with a fictional world. The lines continue to blur until both Indigo and the reader are thrust into a world in which all three converge in an intense climax. It wraps up neatly—almost too neatly—at the end, where it isn't Indigo as much as her fictional creation who triumphs. Even so, "Blood and Ink" stands out for its innovative plot and turn-twisting adventure!

The Crimson Countess

Picture Picture Picture Nola Blair is a free-spirited artist who’s been offered a hefty sum to create a unique piece for a party at Elizabeth Bathory’s ruined castle. It’s an assignment she declined––twice. However, at the behest of her sister and her best friend, she finally gave in, choosing her career over her annoyance with the misogynist ass trying to secure her services.

Erzsebet Bathory has been trapped for centuries and would do anything to escape, including using her own son, Paul, to do her bidding. Soon she’ll be free and take her place among the ferals as their queen.

Andrik Kane had no idea his life would change when he saved Nola from a band of rogue vampires. Charged with the hunting of ferals and their creators, one broken rule and the blood of a beautiful brunette in distress ends up giving him more than he ever bargained for.

The Crimson Countess is NOW LIVE!

Captivated by Crimson is now The Crimson Countess
I've reVAMPed Captivated by Crimson . This gothic vampire tale not only has a new cover but a title change as well. Please check out The Crimson Countess . It's the same killer story inside, but Erzebet felt she deserved the street cred instead of Nola. Erzebet isn't wrong in her thought process, if it wasn't for her wicked ways, Nola would never have met Andrik, and you'd never have had the chance to uncover a new take on vampires.

What do you get when you mix Greek mythology and vampires? The Crimson Countess

Available in ebook, print, and soon to be re-released on audiobook.
