Introducing Rey and Kate…
Pre-release nerves
I have to admit, I’m at the point that I’m re-reading (and re-re-reading) the manuscript and have a weird mix of emotions. Part of me loves Rey and Kate and the other part thinks I’m a crap writer who couldn’t tell a story if her life depended on it.
Luckily, I know this is just situation normal. It isn’t crap. I can write (I have written 33 books so far). I’m just nervous about my book baby going out into the wild. 15 days and counting.
My nails are bitten to the quick. I’ve even resorted to making videos for Tik Tok to distract me (@louisageorgeauthor) – come look me up (and don’t judge the videos!!! LOL)

My book series family tree: connections and connections and connections…
All my books can be read as standalone stories, but I LOVE connections (with people, places, things…) so if you pick up one of my books from the Something Borrowed, Healing Hearts or Bad News series, chances are high you’ll recognise someone or somewhere or something that has appeared in another of my books.
For instance, did you know that both Something Borrowed and Bad News series are set in Portobello, London and many of the cast of characters are intertwined somehow? Or that Someone Blue‘s hero Josh goes to join the rugby team ‘The Reds’ at the forefront of No One But You? That the Healing Hearts stories are all connected by place? Have a look below… (Still the One is part of Healing Hearts, not sure where the connecting line has gone…)
Something Borrowed series:
Something Borrowed
Something About You
Something Beginning With Mistletoe
Something Secret
Something Blue
Bad News series:
Bad News Billionaire (out August 2021)
Bad News and Baubles (Out November 2021)
Bad News Bachelor (Out August 2022)
Healing Hearts series:
No One But You
One More Time
Still The One

I’ve had so many emails and messages about this book, the first in the Something Borrowed series. Readers seem to love it and, because they’ve read it, dive into the rest of the series.
So, after a lot of deliberation, I’ve decided to make it free. Currently I have a giveaway with Free Kindle Reads and Tips. Follow the link here to get your copy TODAY (8 July 2021)

Reading Challenge #2 Science and Technology
I write medical romances, I was a nurse for 22 years and I’m married to a doctor. I know and understand the Junior Doctor’s life more than most, but this book took me right back to working on the wards and had me laughing, eye rolling and crying. Adam Kay’s This Is Going To Hurt diary of his life in an NHS hospital is graphic and detailed and anyone who isn’t a medic/health professional can certainly read and understand. In fact, I would recommend everyone reads it to see what a demanding, yet rewarding, job these people do.
However, the book is short and it took me only a night to read it and The Doc (husband, not Adam Kay) suggested I needed to read something else science and technology-oriented. So I chose The Code Book
The Code Book by Simon Singh traces codes back to early Greek and Roman times and takes us on the journey of code breaking through the ages. As a child I was obsessed with the Tudors and Stuarts and so was very keen to read the story of Mary Queen of Scots and learn more about how she plotted to overthrow Queen Elizabeth the first. If you’re a fan of Bletchley Circle stories there’s lots of information in this book about the cracking of the Enigma code which led to the end of the Second World War. It can get a bit bogged down at times with the minutiae of code set-up and design and code breaking but otherwise it was a good read.
Looking forward to book #3 which is Graphic Novels and Comics…..If you like Game Of Thrones, you’re going to love this one! Pop back next month for more information!

Reading Challenge Book #1
Well, the reading challenge hasn’t exactly gone to plan. Let me remind you- January was for RITA judging books. February was for autobiography, March was Science and Technology, April is for graphic novels and comics.
So…. I received 7 RITA books and, to make sure I did them all justice and completed each one, having read it thoroughly, it took me through February and into March!! The judging deadline was 6th and I scraped through just in time. Which means February was a washout for the reading challenge.
I started Becoming by Michelle Obama as soon as I completed the RITA commitments and I am only just about to complete it! It seemed to take me a long time to read and I’m not sure why…yes, it’s a long book at 426 pages but I can often whizz through long fiction. I guess the subject matter is hardly ‘seat-of-the-pants’ and I do know what happened in the end!! But I am enthralled by her writing style (I wonder if she had help or if that’s her natural voice?) and it is fascinating learning about her life.
Michelle grew up in South Side, Chicago into a close-knit family, she sounds like she was a little ‘princess’ whereby she had to have everything neatly just-so and organised, she’s a great list-maker! She has an older brother and they had a fairly regular upbringing. What I loved was her determination to succeed in whatever field she decided to work in and she had a variety of roles from lawyer to hospital administrator and then, of course, First Lady. When I was reading the parts about her childhood I have to admit I was eager to get to the parts about her relationship with Obama (I am a romance author after all!) and then what it was like to live in the White House, but now knowing about her drive and her sort of OCD tendencies I can see that being FLOTUS would have been enormously challenging for her–she had little control over her daily diary and knew that whatever projects she took on would be scrutinised and that she would be held to a much higher standard than anyone else. It was fascinating to see what was expected of her and how she rose to the challenges but always put her girls in the centre of her decision-making (as far as she could!).
I’m not going to rate the books in this challenge as that’s not what it was about. I enjoyed learning about her and it was very well written (plus, pictures!!!).
Onto the next one…I’ve picked a shorter one for Science and Technology so hopefully it won’t take me as long to read!

2019 Reading Challenge
I’m kind of stuck in a rut with my reading…I have my favourite go-to authors and then my comfort zone genre of romance and generally I’m happy here. I know which shelves to go directly to in the bookstore and those I zoom straight past. But I think it’s time I shook things up a bit and challenged myself to read something different. I read a post on monganmoments.com challenging us to diversify our reading and so I’m taking her up on it. In homage to her list I’ve created a very similar one.
January has to be all about romance because it’s RITA judging time and I’ll have between 5 and 9 romances to read. Often they aren’t sub genres I usually read so it’s always interesting. After that I’m following the plan. I haven’t decided which books I’m going to check out yet because I don’t know what’s coming out over the next 12 months, but chances are I’ll be reading Michelle Obama’s autobiography in February. But check back here and I’ll hit you up wth my choices.
So, who’s with me? Any recommendations for any of the categories?

The end!
The End. Two words that strike such emotions as relief and joy and ‘what have I done? Will they like it? in any jobbing author. I have finished book 27 and it has been accepted by my editor. Saved By their One Night Stand Baby is coming out in July 2019 from Mills and Boon. It’s a medical romance and the first book in a duet with the lovely Sue MacKay, set on board the SOS Poseidon a (fictional) rescue boat in the Mediterranean sea.
Writing a book is no easy task, sometimes the words and ideas flow and it’s plain sailing, but other times you just have to hunker down and force the words out. Luckily this book was one of the most fluid ones I have ever written…I hope that shows in the end result. Watch this space!
So now I’m starting book 28. Something Blue is book 5 in my Something Borrowed series and will be on the shelves (e book shelves at least!) at the end of February… better get the thinking cap on!
I hope all is well in your world and that you’re managing to surmount any hurdles that come your way!
