Daughters
A List For My Four Daughters
1.) You were wanted and prayed for even before your eyes saw their first light.
2.) When you were born, I thought my heart would burst with love; and yet I love you so much more every day.
3.) I count my blessings to be your mother and I hope you will always know that I'm your number one fan no matter what you do!
4.) Whether you feel it or not, you are beautiful to me in every way. I pray every day that you will find a Christian man who appreciates you, loves you, and treats you with the respect and love that you deserve.
5.) I pray for you...more than you can ever know.
6.) Keep people around you who will help you become what you desire to become. If you surround yourself with those with little ambition, then you will lose yours.
7.) No matter where you go or what you do, I will be thinking about you. You are in my thoughts almost all the time.
8.) As you grow away from me, I feel a sweet sadness that I cannot explain. You will have to wait until you become a mother to feel it yourself.
9.) I marvel at your accomplishments and I cry for you when you hurt; but I can never take the credit for the amazing person that you are--you did that!
10.) If I could make life easy for you, I probably would not. The lumps you get along the way will help you. Even so, I will hurt with you, pray for you, and never stop loving you for as long as I live.

Your Mom
Is God Calling You
Is God calling you?
Is God calling you
Can you hear it above the noise
Of your over busy lives
And your loud and noisy toys
Are you listening for His voice
Are you searching through His Word
Is there and open spirit in your heart
To give and to serve
Is your day too full to remember
When you were last on your knees in prayer
Did you know that while you were busy
He was waiting there
Is your home so full of trinkets
That you forget all that you have
Did you ever consider once
That someone else might need them instead
Is God's voice getting smaller
Do you even hear Him at all
Did you know that even though you may not know it
He is waiting for you to call
Have you gone down the wrong path
And think you drifted way to far
Did you know that it doesn't matter to Him
He will meet you where you are
Don't wait a moment longer
Don't miss the blessings He has for you
He's already paid the price
For every sin you still might do
Give in to the smallest sound
Of God's love and his call
He is waiting, loving, watching
And His Son paid it all.

Dressing For Today
How are you dressed today?
Colossians 3:12
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
As I stand each morning before my closet and try to decide what to wear, many times I'm challenged and burdened with trying to find that perfect outfit for the day. I don't know if you're like me, but I go through several outfits before I decide what to wear. I usually check the weather forecast and balance that against what my activities for the day will be. A lot of thought usually goes into my choice.
As I read this verse today, it occurred to me that we should be working just as hard to spiritually clothe ourselves for the day. I wonder what our world look like if we truly clothed ourselves in compassion…kindness…humility…gentleness…and patience.
The world would most definitely notice…
Compassion: Do you like the feeling of compassion? Many do but some don’t. Maybe for you, compassion is more difficult. Is there someone in your life that could use some compassion?
Kindness: What about kindness? It’s easy to grant this to those we love; but what about to strangers? Those in need around you? Is there someone you know who is struggling and could use a kind word or act?
Humility: I think this is difficult for us all. Satan loves Pride. In my novels, I try to highlight that as much as possible. There is something so seductive about ourselves that it’s hard to deny ourselves for someone else. How can you display humility? Is there someone you need to forgive?
Gentleness: Are you too harsh with those you love? Sometimes I am. I want to be known to be more gentle. It’s not as easy as it sounds. Sometimes I expect or ask too much of those closest to me when they need more gentle responses.
Patience: I think I struggle here so much. In our day of instant everything, we have lost the art of waiting. Sometimes it might be the waitress who is having trouble handling the large number of tables when you’re in a hurry. Or the old man in front of you in traffic. It could be as simple as a slow internet connection that sends you over the edge.
Are you honoring God in all you do?
Take some time to review these attributes in your life and see if you are truly “clothed” in them every day.

How Far Will You Reach?
I was at a park today seeing a client for a therapy session and as I waited for my family to arrive, I watched a little boy and his big brother playing. The older boy was standing up on a platform and trying to help his younger brother climb; but the small boy was afraid. I heard the older boy say, "Come on, all you have to do is reach, I'll help you." I continued to watch as the smaller boy folded his arms, shook his head, and walked away. The older boy called out, "Okay, but you're gonna miss all the fun."
Something about that image of the older boy's outstretched hand touched me. I could visualize God reaching out for me when I was too scared to do something. I could almost hear him calling out to me, "Okay, but you're gonna miss all the fun." How many times do we simply walk away from the outstretched hand of God? I felt convicted as I saw the small boy not only walk away but shake his head and fold his arms, as if he would do anything else but not that.
Take a moment today and thank God for His patience with us. Surely, if an older brother promises to help his younger sibling, my Heavenly Father will help me when I'm in need. I pray that I have the ability to see His hand, the humility to accept his help, and the courage to reach out and do my part. I don't want to "miss all the fun" God has for me.
Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Easter 2018
Easter. Egg hunts, bunnies, new outfits, Easter baskets, chocolate…the list is long.
So many activities are swirling around us all this holiday weekend. During all the festivities that you may attend, I hope you will take some time to quietly reflect on the true meaning behind it all.
I hope you have fun with your family and I hope you enjoy time worshipping and celebrating that He has risen.
He bled, He died, and He rose again. And He did it for you.
