National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month

October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. Try saying that ten times.

NPILAM has been in existence since Ronald Reagan proclaimed it so back in October 1988. As he said on that day, we should take this month “to consider how, as individuals and communities, we can meet the needs of bereaved parents and family members and work to prevent causes of these problems.” But not only is NPILAM a mouthful, I’d say it’s somewhat lacking in visibility.

So what are you doing to acknowledge the month? Try reading Holding Silvan. In fact, I’m giving away ten free copies in honor of NPILAM. Contest ends November 2, 2013.
