Suspense, She Writes

Where the road to happily ever after takes a suspenseful detour.

Denise has lived in Louisiana all her life, and yes, she has a drawl. She has a wonderful husband and two incredible children, who not only endure her moods but also encourage her to indulge her writing passion. Accounting is a skill she learned to earn a little money to support her writing habit. Besides writing paranormal suspense, she holds a part-time job in public accounting and enjoys traveling, reading, and scrapbooking.

She wrote her first story when she was a teen, seventeen handwritten pages on school-ruled paper and an obvious rip-off of the last romance novel she had read. She's been writing off and on ever since, and with twenty-two stories alre

Any book that digs into the forensics of a crime absorbs me, and I can easily picture myself as a crime scene investigator.(less)

I don't think I can pick a favorite. There are several couples that I really love together.

Luke and Lorelai from Gilmore Girls. You can see their chemistry from their first encounter in the series. I love witty banter, and these two can dish it out to each other. They're two dysfunctional people who are only functional when they are together. Sometimes I want to smack them hard because neither of them seem to be able to learn from their past mistakes.

Margaret Hale and Mr. Thornton from North and South. I ached for them because of the social norms and class differences that they had to overcome to be together. Their missed cues and miscommunication had me as frustrated as they were. I love the way they changed each other for the better. The scene where they get together makes me cry every single time.

Castle and Beckett from Castle. There was so much sexual tension between them it seemed to jump off the screen at me. I find it difficult to believe the actors didn't like each other in real life. They had a way of both calming and exciting each other's insecurities. At first it seemed to me that they were opposites, but I really think they were an awful lot alike and that's why they butted heads so often.

It Wasn't Exactly Writer's Block

I’m happy to announce the release of my latest book, The Cottage on Dare Lake, the second book in the Dare Lake trilogy.

Almost threeyears have passed without publishing a new book. My last book was released inOctober 2020. Sure, I wrote some new material off and on over the last fewyears, but I couldn’t quite push myself hard enough to complete a manuscript.

I enjoy the fiction I create. A lot. So

Arthur Hall Hello Denise.
Thank you for 'friending' me. I am a writer of spy stories and Sherlock Holmes pastiches, with the occasional foray into sci-fi and fantasy. I think our genres are not so different, and I'd love to discuss writing with you anytime here, or on Twitter or Facebook.

message 2: by Jill

Jill Great to meet you here as well, Denise, and thank you Denise for your friendship.

Douglas Wickard Thank's Diane for friending me on Goodreads!
