From the author: Choosing a personal favorite from these seven stories would be an impossible task. Each has a place in my heart.

“Crawdad Creek” is closest to my personal experience.

“Curious Goods” made me cry like a baby while I was close to the end.

“Jigger of Jin” was so satisfying because I think it’s a fantasy most women secretly want, but wouldn’t dare to dream about.

The “Toll Stop” premise was taken from a real-life event that would be believed by so few I might as well embellish a few details and call it fiction.

“Cabbages and Kings” is a love letter to all the kids who see and hear unusual things, but can’t share with anybody! ‘Cause dang it all to perdition, that stuff is just not “normal”.

“Crossroads” is for all those women who have a witchy gene niggling at their subconscious mind and haven’t yet embraced it.

“The Missing Ingredient” is exactly what I think an encounter with a Devil’s minion would be like.

I hope you’ll find something in common with your own experiences, even if these experiences are on the outer edges of reality.
