Sarah Hobbs is a poet from South London. Born and raised on the streets in and around London they bring these experiences passionately to their poetry.

Seen regularly on the Spoken Word scene around London and the South East of England they are one of the up and coming talents, even describing themselves as the Syllabic Seamstress of poetry.

Their style is very simplistic and mirrors that of Benjamin Zephaniah, their great inspiration and idol.

They believe that poetry needs to focus on a younger audience in order to entice people to love this not so common art form.

Simplicity and rhythm is therefore crucial, because it is this that makes it available and enjoyable to anyone, of any age, race or gender.

Why I write...

Picture I have been thinking quite a lot lately about my writing and my motivations behind it.

Legacy

People quite rightly describe having children as their legacy, and in a way that's how I feel about my writing.

I don’t have any children. For me my writing is my legacy - it’s what I leave behind when I’m no longer here. Parents tell their children stories and mold them in their image and that’s what I do Read more of this blog post »
