Alexius Rex is the pen name of Dr. Jonathan M. Jackson, Sr., an attorney, historian, and author whose work combines meticulous historical research with compelling storytelling.

After earning his Juris Doctor in 1980, Dr. Jackson devoted decades to researching history while bringing the past to life through both historical fiction and nonfiction. His books are known for blending historical accuracy with engaging narratives that immerse readers in the people, places, and events that shaped history.

His published works include I Rode with Morgan, The Return to Brickendon Manor, The Last Confederate Coin, The Raids of John Hunt Morgan, Terror Times Thirteen, and Terror Times Thirteen Volume II.

His writing also includes historical monographs and Alexius Rex is the pen name of Dr. Jonathan M. Jackson, Sr., an attorney, historian, and author whose work combines meticulous historical research with compelling storytelling.

Dr. Jackson is a lifetime member of the Morgan & Men Association, with two ancestors who rode alongside Confederate General John Hunt Morgan. He also participates in Civil War reenactments with his sons and grandsons, serves as a cantor and choir member at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption in Lancaster, Ohio, and is the former president of the Ohio State University Alumni Club of Fairfield County.

He lives in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, with his wife, Vanessa, and is recently completed working on the expanded twentieth anniversary edition of I Rode with Morgan, the memoirs of Roland Jackson and Mitchell Stewart. Currently he is working on the long awaited sequel to The Return to Brickendon Manor, titled The Troubled Peace.

on this day during the Civil War

Thursday April 10th. Well, we are back at Burnsville, licking our wounds. After reveille this morning, roll call produced a return of only 28, including myself.
