Always a delight to read, although catching up with a Serbian gangster in Ireland, takes the tinsel off the tree a bit. Away from the Balkans, where I live, I recognize this as a book about survival, and how this strange, enigmatic man manages to get

“It is necessary to write, if the days are not to slip emptily by. How else, indeed, to clap the net over the butterfly of the moment? For the moment passes, it is forgotten; the mood is gone; life itself is gone. That is where the writer scores over his fellows: he catches the changes of his mind on the hop.”

I have just completed the first draft of my newest novel, It is a stand alone fiction about a flood, and how this disaster affects the people in a small Northern Greek town.Short Description
Is it about the peripatetic Iris, who works for DHL, and makes deliveries around town? Or is it about the rain which disrupts peoples lives, and steers them into areas of life which they prefer to ignore. Disaster caused by flooding is all too familier these days, but faced with its indomitable presence, how do people cope, and how do their lives change? Set in Northern Greece, Goddess of The Rainbow, is a story about how people cope with such a disastrous flood, and about how they live their lives, in the provincial town of Orestiada. The catalyst is Iris, she interacts between the various people, and helps to connect certain individual stories, which occasionally collide with one another, as the story progresses. Love, humor and angst abound, including the story of Iris’s own broken heart, and the eventual return of her childhood sweetheart. There are criminals, spies, and crooked arms dealers, and one tale even includes a priest who has lost his faith. But more importantly, it is the story of people whose lives are in disarray, who are clinging on to what they understand. The question is, what happens when the rain stops?
