Two new books in the works...
While the second instalment of The Hand of the Khryseoi trilogy has been delayed, I have two new projects in the works. I’ve started the fourth story in the Outside Inside series, which has the working title Goddammit, Larry! While I plan to write it in a much more straightforward style than Henry & Isa or The Bunker, the plot is anything but straightforward. I’m having a lot of fun writing it and look forward to sharing more about the story soon.
Project two is nearing completion. This is a longish short story that has been in the works for some time. The premise isn’t totally my idea, but nobody has written the story as far as I can tell, so I thought I’d give it a crack.
Not long ago, I reread Stephen King’s book On Writing. When I hit the chapter where he explains how it’s a writer’s job to identify juxtaposing but complimentary ideas, he provides this as an example:
“People love to read about work. God knows why, but they do. If you’re a plumber who enjoys science fiction, you might well consider a novel about a plumber aboard a starship or on an alien planet… Be brave. Map the enemy’s positions, come back, tell us what you know. And remember that plumbers in space is not such a bad setup for a story.”
Stephen King, On Writing.
Thanks, Stephen. Space Plumber is nearing completion. The expected release date is 7th December 2017.

This is an apology
If you’ve read my blog post Two new books in the works, you’ll know my upcoming title Space Plumber has it’s origins in Stephen King’s book On Writing.
Stephen King, On Writing
With Space Plumber nearing completion, I asked myself, what if Stephen King actually read it? What would he think of it? I really have no idea, but I imagine it isn’t exactly the type of story he was alluding to in that passage of his book.
I’ll tell you now, it is a very silly story. I had a lot of fun writing it. But I’m going to apologise to Stephen King in advance. If he does read it, I wouldn’t be surprised if the references to ‘plumbers in space’ are removed from future editions of On Writing in case anyone else gets the big idea to write a story about it. I’d also like to apologise to all the plumbers out there. Plumbing is a noble profession and has been since ancient times.
Space Plumber is available now from Amazon.
God help me.

Death comes to us all
Alexander Rollins is as famous for his creative deaths as he is for unexpected twists. He threw a massive twist at me shortly before Christmas last year. I was busy writing Goddammit, Larry! the fourth story in the Inside Outside series, when Alexander Rollins demanded to be featured in one of my stories, not just referenced.
If you’ve read any of my work, you’ll know that the fictional New York Times Bestselling Author gets regular mentions in my stories from time to time. I suppose you could say he is to me what Kilgore Trout was to Kurt Vonnegut Jr, except in reverse. Regardless, he’s clearly a source of inspiration for me as this story sprung forth fully formed onto the e-page. In respect to the great author’s reputation for creative deaths, I’ve called it Alexander Rollins Must Die (which is available on pre-order now for a 3 Feb release).
More about this soon... in the meantime, some sage words from the man himself.
“I don’t believe our stories end when we die. Death is a change agent, a twist in the plot taking us on the next great adventure. It’s the opening pages of the next novel in the epic saga of our existence. I expect mine will be a bestseller.”
Alexander Rollins, Afternoons with Mr Underwood: A Memoir of the Craft

Alexander Rollins Must Die Cover Reveal
Available now on pre-order from Amazon for 3 Feb release.

The Blurb
Alexander Rollins knows he is going to die and soon. He's aware of this fact because the writer of this book has provided him with one hell of an authorial spoiler. But Rollins is a New York Times Bestselling author and he isn't ready to let himself be written out of existence without a fight.
The Cast
Staring Alexander Rollins as himself and Michael Gardner as the 'writer.'
Featuring cameo appearances from a Myna bird, the cop, the commuters of Interstate 81, Peaches and Floyd.
The Price
$0.99
Read a preview on my blog, because Amazon doesn't 'look inside the book' with a pre-order. God knows why...
Pre-order here from Amazon.

Writer missing in action - found!
Latest News
A writer who has been missing in action has been found. He was isolated in his home, apparently having been forced to remain indoors by the New Zealand government.
He was also discovered to have written a new novella which will soon be released to the public. The alleged title of this novella is Gone Wonder Land (which seems appropriate given his situation).
Further details follow.
The Blurb
Orphaned as a child, Ernest Wright finds himself alone once more after the sudden death of the uncle who raised him. But he believes The Universe has sent him a message about what he must now do with his life. This is the story of how one man, a voyage and a lot of rubbish changes the face of the planet.
Release Date
24th April 2020
This a Friday, which we're told is significant, but the writer refuses to say why.
