Updated Souls

Finally uploaded the proofed version of Soul(s), I can finally move on to other projects. Never again, people! NEVER AGAIN will I put something out before it's proofed and then back peddle to update the ebook. It is the worst!

Thanks to everyone who read Soul(s) anyway! xo

Wattpad!

Hey! Are you Wattpad.com ? If so, I'd love to connect! I've also begun overhauling The Persian Door and I'm posting the chapters as a go! I'll probably do about 2-4 a week. If you read the first edition, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the revisions I've made.

Allo?!

Hi Everyone! Thought I'd swing by and let you know what I've been up to. I write under a pen name, Vera West, and so far there are two books out on goodreads, smashwords, amazon, itunes, Barnes & Nobel and various other online sites. Souls is free, so please check it out.

I had four books planned for the Soul(s) series and then realized that the books 3 & 4 should really be combined. So, we'll see how that goes. Hopefully that book will be out in the summer and then the Soul(s) series will take a little rest. I've absolutely love writing in that universe so...there may be more coming in the future.

In other, but yet still writing, news, I've been working on a contemporary romance called "29". My golden birthday is coming up at the end of this month and I'd like to at the very least release a few chapters on Wattpad! I'm really excited about this piece. It's very different from my other books, which is sort of my own personal goal for each book I write. It's my first book that doesn't have any magic or sci-fi or really anything fantastical, so it's been a little scary to write. But sometimes I think the scary is good for you.

You can find me on here (Goodreads) and Facebook but I'm the most prevalent on Twitter! I love to chat and connect with people and of course talk about writing/reading, so please reach out to me!

Take Care! Go read something!

The Persian Door

So, for those of you who are planning on or have already read my first novel The Persian Door, I'm excited to let you know that I'll be doing an overhaul on that piece. I know, it's far from perfect, but I want you to know I appreciate your support and value you as a reader. SO! I'll be taking what I've learned since first starting that novel years ago and be providing you with a newly edited piece AND the rest of the story.

WOOT! :)

Best,
N.

FREE EDITIONS!?

I've uploaded Soul(s), a sci-fi romance I wrote under my pen name Vera West. YOu can now get free copies on goodreads.com (woot woot!). I have plans on keeping this book free even after the sequel comes out early fall of this year! If you're wondering, I choose to use a pen name for when the books are physically published. The Persian Door is already out in bookstores and I thought it necessary to draw a large line between my writing for younger audiences and my writing for grown ups. I have no problem with people knowing I write in different genres, I just didn't want a slew of angry moms coming after me. ;) For those of you who weren't too impressed with my editing, I'll have you know, you'll be impressed with my improvement. As any writer, I aim to always get better and am humbled by anyone who reads my work. Enjoy!

Best,
NW

Ender's Game

Man, I posted a little discussion topic on a section of Ender's game--that for the record has been edited out of later editions--and it just blew up.

My point or question rather was, as writers we have the power to say anything we want. ANYTHING.

So everything thing we do say is important, what we don't say is also important because it enhances what we are saying with the reader.

When I saw that line dialogue between between two six year olds, I was just struck by why it was there. It wasn't necessary, came out of no where and then was never discussed again. Which frankly makes sense because it had nothing to do with anything really.

Why was it there in the first place?
Trying to show how much the ways of your parents affects children? I don't know.

Anyway, life went on, I read most of the book, watched the movie, and frankly there's a lot more to the book than just that scene. WHICH, I knew before hand.

I don't believe in banning books, I don't believe in censoring a writer, BUT that doesn't mean I am not curious about why something was written. And I don't have to like it just because I agree with your right to say it.

This is why I love writing so much, it gives you so much to contemplate. :)

Ketchup, New York, NY, Nanowrimo and a Book Signing

I've been a little busy lately and kinda tired so I overly laughed when I typed Ketchup instead of catchup for the title f this mini blog.

The book signing went VERY well. I was so relieved. I was freaking out, and chickened out when it came to reading an excerpt but all my little bookies sold so that's good.

I'm still convinced that writers (myself including) are incurably weird, but I think I hide it better than they do. :P

NANOWRIMO!!!! I'm so incredible excited. I'd like to finish my never project (a sci-fi, romance, action, thriller) called Soul(s). I'm about halfway done, and I'd like to push on through and finish it up. I did a round of revisions on the first half, but I'm a little foggy on the plot for the second so....nanowrimo better not leave me hanging.

My writing group is sort of fizzling, which makes me very frustrated. But recently someone reminded me that I shouldn't focus on what's not going right. I'll take a step back, breathe, and just focus on my work.

ALSO: I took a mini adventure to NY for the first time. LOVED IT. The walking? Not so much. The city life, straight-up smitten.

Tomorrow's the BIG DAY

My first EVER book signing is tomorrow. I'm feeling happy-side-excited-overhwelmed.

I'm having regular small doses of candy to help me with all these *shiver* emotions.

:) There will be a podcast of it posted on the Schulerbooks.com 's website. I'll be sure to post it for your viewing pleasure.

Giveaway Winners Announced

Hello! YAY! My first giveaway was a huge success. There were over 300 people who entered and many of them added my book to their "to be read" pile. Win, win!

The winners of this giveaway were:

Ava
Danielle
Nickie
Kathy

You should have been notified by me already but congratulations again!

Although I can only over so many paperback versions of my book for free, I can give away an ABUNDANCE of ebook copies. I'm not sure if the downloadable link is for Kindle and PDF's only, or if I also put up a link for people with nooks. Either way, message me and we'll make it happen.

Cheers!

EXCITING NEWS

I did get an offer to join some other authors for Schuler's October local author note at their store on Alpine, in Grand Rapids, MI.

I'm CRAZY excited.
I might have cried a little.
But just a little.

I don't have the full details yet, but I will post a link as soon as it's available.

Also, for those of you who aren't anywhere near Michigan, my good friend and ex-rommie Kendyl will be doing a podcast of the event so you'll get to hear it even if you can't see it. :) win! win! Right? RIGHT?!
