Mike Carss is a fantasy author and ambient musician based in Ottawa, Canada.

While his writing sits firmly within the fantasy genre, he favours stories that explore the subtleties of human connection over sweeping battles or grand destinies. Rest assured, however, that action and adventure still play an important role.

His stories are always told through the eyes of a single protagonist, allowing readers to form a close bond as the character struggles in their endeavours. Fundamental in this storytelling approach is a deliberately small cast of supporting characters—portrayed with the same flaws and vulnerabilities we acknowledge in ourselves. Strength of Fate is now available

In 2013, I published a fantasy/adventure novel titled Deeds of Their Past. The story followed two men whose questionable life choices finally caught up with them.

Work on their continuing story started soon after, but I lost steam about halfway through the manuscript. Fast-forward to 2023. The sequel (and conclusion to the story) is finally complete.
