Rođena je u Sarajevu u kojem ostaje i tokom njegove opsade, diplomirala arhitekturu na Univerzitetu u Sarajevu, magistrirala međunarodne odnose na Webster University u Beču, saradnica je magazina Gracija za koji piše gastro reportaže.

Emirina prva knjiga Šeherzada u Sarajevu, zbirka kratkih priča, objavljena je u izdanju Buybooka 2013. godine.

Njena kratka proza i eseji objavljivani su u časopisima za književnost Lica, Odjek i Flash Fiction Worldu, kao i Vienna Reviewu. U zadnjih deset godina promijenila je više adresa stanovanja od Kinšase, preko Beča do Prištine.
