Jon Neal Cassady was the basis for Dean, Alan Ginsburg was Carlo Marx and William Burroughs was 'Old Bull Lee' how crazy right? I believe Cassady was very standoffish with Kerouac after On The Road came out and essentially revealed his sex encounters with Ginsberg through the story I really believe On The Road was just the crazy shit that went down during their crazy beat generation wild ride and I think that is why Kerouac revised it again and again but didn't they all know who each other were when they read it? I guess Cassady was a poet and small time car theif who had done time and really wanted to learn to be a poet from Ginsberg...I think Kerouac was the suprise of the bunch ...did you know Ginsberg and Kerouac recited poetry at a coffee house under pink floyd's first rehearsal space in London in the late 60s? I read in the Syd Barrett book that Ginsberg and Roger Waters and Syd Barrett did some of the last batch of the first hardcore acid that was created in Germany in the 60s with Aldous Huxley...how f'n crazy is that?? But very possible. .. ...
