Revolution in the World At Large
The World At Large touches on the theme of revolution throughout the world. The following is a quote from a recent article about the upheaval in Thialand:
“Let me ask you, as a journalist, why do the Arabs have the right to stand up against their governments in the Arab spring and why don’t Thais have the same right?” Suthep said. “The Ukrainians stand up against their government and the US praises them.” But then he added: “We don’t blame the journalists because Thai politics through the eyes of the West might not be easily understandable.”

The following is a quote from the World At Large, somewhat reminiscent of what is happening at the moment in South Asia:
The BBC had propped up a greying reporter in front of an elegantly bound bookshelf. He was scolding the Minister of the Interior of some distant country for not resigning even though he had supported the old regime. But no matter how much he was prodded, the minister resisted the pathetic arm-twisting of his interrogator and reaffirmed his dedication to changing the ways of the old guard.
Then we were off to the desert, where a young man with milk chocolate skin was condemning the audience on the other side of the screen. “You say you support us – that you understand, but you lie!” The clean-shaven journalist interviewing him tried to assure him that he understood his plight and that he was there to help, but the young man in the black and white Afghan fought back, “If you understand, then why do you call us rebels? We are not rebels; we are revolutionaries. The blood of our people is being spilt and we want justice. This is a revolution!”
