PT never imagined publishing a book. But, the story of Violence Begets… and the lives of Kevin and Rick had to be shared.

In addition to writing, PT spends times balancing family, work, attending theater, and reading.

Above all else PT loves being a parent to 2 amazing daughters (a teenager and a toddler).

PT believes that no one deserves to be intentionally hurt (physically or emotionally) by another and that behind nearly every bully is a story.

Hello Lee,

You have the honor of being the first person to ask a question on my Goodreads profile – thank you!! And thank you for your kinds words.

I am writing a sequel. There is still a lot of story to tell. Rick has to return home to save a little brother (son of step-mom and dad) born after he left home. He finds out that this little brother is now being abused. There will be many demons – both past and present – that he will need to confront.

It's slow going – I have a very busy life – but it's coming along.

And because you inquired about the sequel – here are a few snippets that I posted on facebook awhile back. They are rough, have not been edited and may or may not get into the final version…but it will give you a taste of what is to come.

________________________________________________

I paused with my hand on the front doorknob, fear slamming into me. I was aware that I hadn’t been back to this house in over 15 years. Now, standing with only a door separating me from my dad, I found myself again flooded with painful memories.

After several moments of fighting the urge to run, I squared my shoulders and pushed open the door. It surprised me when it opened so easily, obviously the tightness that use to make it stick had worn through the years.

My knees almost buckled as I reached the stairs that led to my bedroom, now Isaac’s room. Remembering how many times he’d chased me to my room and the anniversary of Jason’s death when he’d thrown me down the stairs. I pushed past the memories slamming through me as I made my way to the kitchen and living area.

I saw Sylvia sitting at the same old dining room table reading a newspaper. She took her time looking up to me, probably expecting me to be Isaac. When her gaze met mine she paused a moment before quietly whispering “Honey." Followed by a slight glance towards the front room.

As I entered the kitchen, I looked to the left, not surprised to find my dad in his usual spot with a game on the TV.

My throat became dry and rough as I tried to swallow. He looked older, more gray in his hair but much like I remembered him. The same hands, curling around his beer can. The same fingers that had curled around my arm so many times. “Honey!” Sylvia said more forcefully, looking directly at my dad.

“What?” He asked gruffly from his place on the couch, eyes focused on the game.

“Hiya, dad.” I forced out sarcastically, trying to mask the shaking in my voice.

His head snapped in my direction as he pulled himself up and off the couch. My stomach tightened in knots and I forced myself not to take a step back at his sudden movement.

“Rick?” He asked quietly and as I watched the emotions play on his face. I was surprised when he looked somewhat happy.

He took a step forward and I blurted out. “I’m here for Isaac.” Nothing like cutting right to the chase, I thought.

His lips turned down a little and his eyes narrowed, “What?”

“Isaac. He’s leaving with me.” I hadn’t planned on doing things so abruptly but I wanted to get it over with, to get out of their house and away from him.

"What are you talking about? Our Isaac?” Sylvia asked.

“Yes.” I said simply, knowing I should probably say more but unable to find the words.

“What? Why?” She stammered.

“He’s not safe here. He’s leaving with me,” I said bluntly.

“If you expect me to stand by…” she began.

Her words enraged me and helped me find my voice. “You stood by and watched him hurt me for years and you’re doing the same now with Isaac. I think that’s exactly what I expect you to do. Stand by and stay out of it like you always have." I snapped at her, finding my strength.

_______________________________________

"As his fingers weaved through the strands towards the back of my head, I felt them slowly come to a stop at the base of my neck. Pulling my head forward gently, he brought his lips to mine, softly and tenderly. “Please, Rick.” He kissed me, “You have to see that you deserve to be loved.” As his tongue swept past my lips, I threw my arms around him, taking his mouth into mine. I wanted to taste the sunshine that always seemed to be in his soul. The heart and kindness that saw pain in this world and fought it with love, not anger."

I hope you enjoyed them and keep in touch on facebook to follow my progress - I promise to post more snippets along the way.

Interview with Kevin Vincent

Almost 2 years ago I did a blog tour – since those entries have faded into history on sites with lots and lots of posts, I thought I would bring them back to life and post them for posterity on Goodreads. Over the next several weeks – through the release of The Cycle, I will be sharing the original blog tour posts here. Enjoy!
