A Toast to Dead Friends

A childhood friend of mine passed away last week.. we hadn't spoken in at least a decade, but I still remember his laugh and his smile. I remember crowding around the gamecube jostling for our turn at Smash Brothers, or riding our bikes to the town carnival and getting into trouble. I wish I could just call him and ask how he's been. Here's a new poem for you, Scott. I'll see you in the next life.

Pure schlock. Young adult cheesy horror slasher vibes, but such a fun ride.

An approachable tale, yet unnerving (in the best way) all at the same time. The Devil is a Black Dog is a great read for anyone interested in conflict in the middle east, journalism, or fictitious stories that feel as if they were real! I'll probably ...more

Started really strong and loved the premise. Toward the end it felt drawn out and cartoonish, the action was over the top like a cheesy movie. I wish we didn't learn so much about the folks behind the chain, a little mystery to it all is good..

“Saccharine daydreams
Of salad days and bursting seams.
Living life so fully,
Death has nothing to take.
What does it take to be a martyr in this place?”
Christopher Hantman, What Does It Take To Be A Martyr In This Place? A Collection of Poems on Grief and Loss.

“When the day is forever escaping,
and you cannot grasp what it is you want most,
It is time to stop foolishly chasing,
And welcome the night like a familiar ghost.”
