City of Widows by Nadia Hashimi
"I really wish I could say I liked this more than I did. For a while, I almost talked myself into giving it 3 stars because of how invested I am already in the appalling situation in Afghanistan, particularly the gender apartheid, which makes me feel " Read more of this review »

Absolutely loved this novella in flash. This is story about dementia and how both mother and daughter navigate this time in both their lives. Alternately heart-breaking, funny and tender, but never sentimental, this is a must-read.
A Bird in the House by Bronwen Griffiths
"I LOVED this book. Bronwen has a clear, crisp style all of her own which makes reading her books such a pleasure. I love her descriptions - you are in the world of her characters, actually in the room with them. And her characters are always so well " Read more of this review »
