Book 540
Book 540 is an Indie writers' project in the Reviews Initiative for Indie Books group, which will feature a select collection of flashtales of 540 words or less. It's a response to the junk contaminating the Indie book market, and is intended to showcase some of the good writing that's out there. I've submitted two stories of my own - but the real reward has been discovering the wonderful work that other writers have submitted. Like Sluggish Bullet, The Bliss of Innocence, The Rest of the Story (etc, etc!). Make sure you get a copy when it's done, don't miss all the submissions, because even those that might not be in the final collection (perhaps because the author has submitted too many good stories!) are excellent. Best of all, why don't you have a go yourself?

Pocket-sized Yarns!
Hey, Michael Gardner , our project co-ordinator, has done an amazing job in getting Pocket-sized Yarns out so soon.
The stories are sharp, witty, moving and funny. This is a must-read anthology for every aspiring indie writer, and everyone who has ever thought of writing off indie authors as not worth their time. And it's free! Get it from Smashwords.

Nights Bright Days
Notes from an occasional writer, chiefly in the realm of dream and fantasy, whence this title. And no, there is no apostrophe!
Shakespeare's Sonnet 43:
When most I wink, then do mine eyes best see,
For a Notes from an occasional writer, chiefly in the realm of dream and fantasy, whence this title. And no, there is no apostrophe!
Shakespeare's Sonnet 43:
When most I wink, then do mine eyes best see,
For all the day they view things unrespected;
But when I sleep, in dreams they look on thee,
And darkly bright are bright in dark directed.
Then thou, whose shadow shadows doth make bright,
How would thy shadow's form form happy show
To the clear day with thy much clearer light,
When to unseeing eyes thy shade shines so!
How would, I say, mine eyes be blessed made
By looking on thee in the living day,
When in dead night thy fair imperfect shade
Through heavy sleep on sightless eyes doth stay!
All days are nights to see till I see thee,
And nights bright days when dreams do show thee me. ...more
