Thanks for visiting! My name is Eric Stoddard. I’m an author whose first book, “30 Pounds in 40 Days” (On HCG) arrives online in Spring, 2014. My goal is to share techniques, strategies, and tools with you, that have helped me to improve my life, and that I know can help you to improve yours.

I write about my experiences in a wide range of areas, from weight loss, to personal finance, to investing, to leadership, to personal productivity, to career progression. I’m no expert in any one field (by trade, I’m an executive during the day, just wrapping up my MBA program!). I write about my experiences in a wide range of areas, from weight loss, to personal finance, to investing, to leadership, to personal productivity, to career progression. I’m no expert in any one field (by trade, I’m an executive during the day, just wrapping up my MBA program!). However, I’ve found through reading hundreds of books, that most of them are focused on the wrong thing! Whether it’s a finance book focused on finding a good interest rate, or a weight loss book focused on eating the perfect foods, I’ve found that many authors miss the boat – it’s REALLY all about behavior! We don’t get into debt because of interest rates, we get into debt because we spend beyond our means! We don’t get overweight because of eating the wrong foods – eating wrong is a symptom of our terrible habits and repeated behaviors! In almost any area of life, if we can change our behaviors, we can change our lives. For this reason, I’m perpetually experimenting and making improvements in my life, and writing about them so that you can learn from my mistakes and my solutions. My goal is to reflect on my experiments, to understand how they can help you, and to share my experiences in a boiled-down way that allows you to apply my findings to your life, to make things better.

I write in a style known as “autoethnography,” defined as a form of self-reflection and writing that explores the researcher’s personal experience and connects this autobiographical story to wider cultural, political, and social meanings and understandings. In other words, I’ve made my life a giant experiment in behavior, and I write personal memoirs (that happen to be backed by tons of research by people more well-studied and higher-degreed than I!) that can help you to improve your life.

You’ll find one consistent theme through all of my writing: know thyself. I encourage you to understand who you are on a deep level, because I believe that when you know yourself to the core – knowing what you will do, won’t do, and even how you’ll react emotionally in given situations – that knowledge can be combined with creativity and preparedness to give you a better life.

ABOUT 30 POUNDS IN 40 DAYS:
I never thought I would lose weight as quickly as I did, while changing my habits, and I certainly never thought I would write a weight loss book. But I did lose the weight, with the help of a great nutritionist, a solid plan, and a million and one tricks I made up along the way to keep my evil twin from coming out and ruining it. I found a way to do it, and I want to share everything about it with you. I'm no expert in nutrition. I'm not a dietician and I'm not a doctor. I'm a regular guy who works in an office and who was attending graduate school. I have a busy schedule like you, and, like you, I struggled with my weight. But I managed to lose 30 pounds in 40 days. This book is what my journal grew into. It's the story of my transformation, and I'm sharing it with you here.
