Maximize is my word for the year of 2019

First something on personal notes.

As you may know, I have a routine for my January 1st that I have been doing for many years now.

I start by going for a long walk and meditate into the coming year.

When Im back home I, of course, start by getting myself a good cup of coffee.
Then I go through an exercise where I choose my word for the year. A word that I use to help me make decisions throughout the year. In the past years these words have been Courage, Play and more. For the year of 2019 I...

Changes in the work environment, that should not scare you

Changes are something that people tend to be afraid of. It is totally normal to be afraid of the unknown.

These days you can read tons of books, articles, and blogs, about all kinds of changes coming up. Changes in the labor market and in workplaces. Changes that may change your world as you know it. Changes that may eliminate your job, your livelihood. Machine learning, AI, and robots doing your job. Sounds like a science fiction maybe. Changes

I dont think there is any reason to be afraid of thos...

What I learned from giving a presentation at Disrupt HR

Disrupt HR London, March 6th, 2018. Why not give a presentation there?
It sounded very appealing when I signed up for it but getting closer to it I really tried to find excuses not to go. But I am always looking for challenges and ways to practice my courage so off I went. Disrupt

Few weeks after the event the organizer sent me a link to a video with my presentation. It took me a few days to build up my courage to share this link with my friends and followers. Why? Because I was not too happy with m...

My thoughts after a great vacation

vacationA few days ago I came back after two weeks of vacation in Tenerife, Spain.

Here I want to share with you two things. Some of what I did on my vacation. But what might be more exciting, some of my thoughts right after the vacation.

First of all: Taking a vacation is a necessity, not a luxury!

Taking time to recharge, broaden your horizon and just relax should be mandatory. Not only once a year. Im thinking more like once every quarter of the year.

I spent quite a lot of time by a pool and on...

A new podcast: Future of HR, Management and Future of Work

Recently I was interviewed, for a podcast, on my view or ideas on the future of HR, management, and kind of the future of work in general.

I just love getting the opportunity to talk with people on those matters, it is not only my work but kind of my passion.
This interview also touches upon some of the topics many of my presentations cover, topics Im known for as a speaker and an expert in my field.

Towards the end of the podcast I give an advice that you can use if you want to change someth...

Are you waiting for Someday? A recent presentation.

Giving a presentation is a horrifying thought for a lot of people. But for me, giving presentations is in fact one of the things that I love the most doing.
I find this a great opportunity to make an impact, and it is in fact a passion of mine.

PresentationMost of my presentations are on HR or Leadership.

In March 2018 I gave a presentation at an event called Disrupt HR, held in London, UK.

Here you can watch my presentation – see what happens when the glass broke!

More media appearance and articles

Recently I was interviewed in Kastljós, a very popular news related show at RÚV (The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service).
The interview was about #metoo and how HR managers deal with sexual harrassment incidents and accusations in the workplace.

My brother-in-law was so excited about it that he took this picture you can see here on the right, me appearing in his TV.

I used the opportunity to update my About me section here on the site.
Mostly I added links to several interviews I have...

Make Decisions for greater Success – Here is how in 5 steps

Make Decisions is something you do about 35.000 times a day – so why not put a bit more thought into it?

Maybe you first need to make decisions on what “greater success” means for you. Make Decisions
Start by defining your success and then use the following 5 steps to make it even greater.

When defining your success think about all the areas in your life that matter to you. You can have success in more than one area at the same time. And in fact, success in one area should not be at the cost of success in...

Step Up – Be Courageous – Be Bold and Beautiful

Recently I attended an event where Mr. Dominic Barton, CEO at McKinsey, gave a Key Note Presentation.

So many things he said have stayed with me.
Some because they were so in tune with a lot of things Im thinking about these days.
Others because they stretched me and my mind.
And some because they just made be so optimistic and excited about our future. There are disruptive times now. And we need to be disruptive, in the meaning of drastically alter things (Disrupt is my new favorite word!)....
