Kayla Dempster was born in Wuxue, China and adopted by her two parents when she was ten months old. She was raised in and currently resides in Livonia, Michigan. She is currently a college student pursuing a degree in biochemistry while still finding time to pursue her passion for writing.

She wrote her first novel The Year of the Elephant in junior high school and later went on to self-publish it through iProclaim. Three years later she wrote and published The Unusual Isles which is now available to purchase on Amazon.
