Goodreads Glitch! Boooo Hissss!

Holy good geez was I PISSED to see my reviews and ratings frozen in time!

The number of people who've read Entwined isn't syncing with the number reviews/ratings left. Apparently, Goodreads is having a glitch issue with accuracy when it comes to displaying ratings and reviews for many books. The problem surfaced on Sunday, and they're still working on it. It makes an author want to cry because you're totally thinking, "NO ONE IS READING MY BOOOOOKKKKSSSS!" :(

Well, I'm releasing a book tomorrow, not the best time for Goodreads to go apeshit, but fortunately, I can see the reviews some of my ARC readers have left even though some of you may have trouble viewing the information. In any case, please continue to rate and or review books you've read even if you don't see your rating/review. Authors appreciate it more than you know. The good and the bad! Feedback is essential for us all.

I'm SO excited for release day tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was freaked the hell out because I had no idea how people would receive this novelette, but I'm truly happy most enjoyed Gabby and Jake! LoL, I have a bunch of freaky readers! I love you guys hehe. #teammenagereadersunite

Thank you for your support. It means the world to me.

There's still time to make sure you get your copy of Entwined. #shamelesspromo

Goodreads Is Back To Normal, Reviews And Why They Matter, And A Hearty Thank You!

***LONG POST AHEAD***

Huge thank you to everyone who purchased a copy of Entwined!

You made my release day pretty damn awesome. Also, the Goodreads problem has been fixed! The glitch is gone, and ratings/reviews are now updated! *mega fist pump*

Many thanks to those of you who have taken the time to read and review/rate my work. Visibility for authors is imperative to their success, and your ratings and reviews help, even the not so good ones. LOL, me? I will take them all. GIMME ALL DA RATINGSSSSSSSSSS!

Here's my plea on behalf of all authors, not just indies:

Whenever you finish a book, please take a moment to leave your thoughts on the website where you purchased the book. Your review doesn't have to be lengthy.

A star rating + loved, hated, pass, etc. and that's all! If you'd like to give more detailed feedback, that's great too.

A blogger friend and reviewer Musings of an IR Romance Junkie made a post a few days ago on her blog about many indie authors in the Interracial/Multicultural genre deciding to give up writing because they don't see the benefit. They see few sales or people will buy their books but not post reviews.

Readers are somewhat "striking" because they see the market flooded with "mediocre content." Well, my question would be, if you've read a few books you've found less than favorable, have you left your feedback? No? Well, reviews matter. Good and bad.

As a reader, think about how many books you may have bypassed because there wasn't a review or there were very few posted or they all say positively glowing things. No one has a dissenting opinion? No one? Think about that bestseller everyone loves and it has 500+ reviews but every single one is five stars. Okay, maybe the author wrote the heck out of the story, but someone who purchased the book likely wasn't satisfied with something in the story, but they chose not to post because they didn't want to be seen as "negative."

You know what gives street cred to an authors book? A variety of reviews. A range of stars. Because not everyone will love everything we've written. It's just the nature of the game. You cannot please everyone and trying to do so will only give you a major friggin' aneurysm.

The books you may be interested in with no reviews? You probably weren't sure whether or not you wanted to buy the book despite the synopsis and or cover luring you in. Sometimes a review can make or break your buying decisions.

For authors, that's a big deal. Algorithms factor into which books are featured on specific bookseller websites. Books that you may be interested in could auto populate based on what you loved or hated. How easy is that for your book buying needs?

I don't write as a full-time gig. However, I feel for the people who choose to lay it on the line and write for a paycheck. That's scary. It's scary because the market is fickle and sometimes readers can be fickle. You never know what may take off or what may tank. I commend anyone who chooses to dive into the shark tank. It's a brave thing to do.

I hope I shed some light on why reviews are important. Even if you still choose not to write one after reading my verbose post, it's totally okay. It just hurts my heart that people who love what they do are willing to walk away from it all because they don't receive feedback. Reviews also help writers hone their skills. I say this in the back of each of my books. I can't improve my writing if I don't know what worked or didn't work for you as a reader.

LOL, I know a lot of authors say they don't read their reviews but yeah, ahem, authors do read them. Sometimes they may even comment on a review and ask a reviewer to elaborate (not in a combative or stalkerish way but for the sake of being productive because they care about improving). I've had an author do that for one of my reviews, and I was more than happy to help her. We gotta stick together! #authorsunite

In closing, I appreciate everyone who chooses to spend time reading my work. I do this for you guys. I do it because I want to see kinky love stories told! I do it because my dating life sucks a fat one and writing fun heroes is kind of kickass, LOL.

Stay tuned, my plan for winter releases is still in the works. NaNoWriMo is kicking my ass. :( *cries*
