My brother Todd and I have been writing together for as long as we can remember, but we’ve always done things together. We grew up in a zoo. I don’t mean that figuratively. Our parents owned a zoo, and my brother and I served as the zookeepers. As a result, I have been bitten by almost every animal you can think of. If you can name it, it has bitten me . . . probably twice.

I haven’t been bitten by a naked mole rat (or even one wearing clothes), but I have been bitten by a yellow-rat snake, which at least has “rat” in it’s name. And I haven’t been bitten by a sugar glider, but when I was about four years old, I did have a ferret hanging off my chin because he decided to bite me in the face.
