Dragon Eyes
With each new Dragon Eye book, we’ve been introduced to new characters. Each dragon has a unique color of scales, which corresponds to the color of that dragon’s eyes. No wonder, then, that after so many books and characters, it can be tricky to keep track of all those eye colors.
To help, I’ve created this handy list of the dragon characters and their colors. Do you have any colors you’d like to see added to the list?
Ram—blue
Ilsa—violet
Elmir—scarlet-orange
Ion—gray-green-silver
Eudora—yellow with a tinge of green
Ed—pine green
Wren—bright blood red
Nia—yellow tinged with orange
Ram Jr.—indigo
Zilpha—magenta violet
Felix—scarlet-red
Rilla—robin’s egg blue
Zhi—peacock blue
Chen—tiger orange
Alyda Etincelle—pink, more tourmaline than chalcedony

Who Should Read the Dragon Eye Books?
One question I frequently get is whether the Dragon Eye books are appropriate for specific readers. Since there are various factors that go into what each person considers “appropriate,” let me tell you a bit about the books so you can decide for yourself whether they meet your needs.
The Dragon Eye books are written for Young Adults--readers in their teens and early twenties, mostly. But that doesn't mean people older or younger can't enjoy them.
If you apply a rating scale such as movies use, the books would rank somewhere about a PG or maybe PG-13. While there is no nudity or explicit sexual content, there is action violence. Some of that violence is rather bloody. It’s never brutal or overtly cruel—it’s based mostly on swordplay, fighting dragons, and other mythical creatures.
The language is, for the most part, clean. Depending on how conservative a person’s tastes in language, there are a few words some might find mildly offensive—so if language is a hot button no-no for you (or if you can’t stand blood) you may wish to avoid the books.
I’ve known readers as young as eight years old and as old as, ahem...much older, to enjoy these stories. They’re a bit like a Disney movie, or The Princess Bride, or that dragon-visited classic, The Hobbit. And yet, they’re not like any of those at all. They are entirely new and fresh and fun, and I very much hope that readers of all ages will enjoy them.
