The Eye of the Poet

Last night a colleague said, "I think for every 1,000 snapshots I take, one is a photograph." I reacted bemused and he explained, “It takes talent to compose a photo, otherwise you’re just taking pictures.”

I suppose, ultimately, it is all semantics, but I couldn't agree more.

Orson Welles said it well, "A film is never really good unless the camera is an eye in the head of a poet." The same applies to photography.
