Jan This novel held my interest from beginning to end. Life during the Civil war was plagued with suffering by those captured and inprisoned as well as to those waiting their return. Their commitment to one another during their inprisonment extended into the post war when the surviving members of Phillip Markham's unit rally to clear his name and help his widow, Miranda, through a dark time where she is threatened and blackmailed by someone living in her community. Travel through the post war south and see how war can also bring peace and love to those left behind as a result of a promise made.
I was provided a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion. I hope that you will enjoy this historical romance novel as much as I did.

Patricia Bond I really enjoyed reading The Loyal Heart I thoroughly enjoyed reading and it was a book that held your attention and was hard to put down. The story showed the men's loyalty to each other after the war and their imprisonment and to their fellow fallen soliders
