Reduced hours

Had a heart attack recently and basically I was doing way too much - working insanely long hours, pulling double shifts, stressing about work, not relaxing at all and taking time/care for myself. So now I won't be able to work much anyway. It's sad when you're in your 30s and your heart clocks out.
So now I'm just publishing one book title a year and taking much fewer reading/review/editing projects.
This sucks.
But I want to live to 150 and crapping out before I'm even 35 isn't the way to go.

Christine Hayton K.P. - so glad you're feeling better now - those wake-up calls are disturbing - especially at your age. I wish you much luck in the future. Enjoy your new style - life is way too short as it is, to risk your health.

K.P. Merriweather Thanks Christine! I got so used to saying I'm alright and ignore when my body needs a break so yeah, one hell of a wakeup call. Now I'm being more mindful and don't feel guilty when I say 'no'. I have to - for the sake of my health, and for that feel pretty damn good when I do. Talk about a life lesson! Whew...

Mike Robbins Good luck and I hope all will be well. Having just been given a dire warning by my own doctor, I am thinking "there but for the grace of...".

Christina McMullen I been wondering where you were! I'm sorry you had to deal with that, but I'm glad you're still here and taking care of you! :)

Hákon Gunnarsson K.P. I'm glad to hear you are feeling better now. Stress can be dangerous. Your healt has to come first, so there is no need to feel guilty over saying no. Best of luck to you.

K.P. Merriweather Thanks y'all. It feels weird working only part time these days (4 hours a day and 4 days a week now, gah) but trying to live a healthy life while trying to continue doing what I love is a bizzaro balancing act. It's not something I'm used to, but I keep trying.

Since I have more time on my hands, I have all these indie books I'm finally getting around to reading. That'll be fun, heh....

Rob Meijer CVD is a bitch. Had my first CV event in my early 20s and I just turned 46 yesterday; an age I really did not expect to reach to be frank, especially as as I had to trade in my medicine for discipline w.r.t a health lifestyle, a diet that at first felt rather restrictive and for an almost phobic avoidance of stress and negativity.

My thoughts are with you Kim. The hardest part is right now for you, making hard and sometimes radical risk-reduction choices that you may partially have to stick to for ever, coping with the reality of your mortality at an age where you shouldn't have to worry about such subjects.

Take care.

K.P. Merriweather Thanks rob! Yeah that's exactly what I'm dealing with - super restrictive diet and avoiding stressors. I'm moving away from family today and they're all upset but I'm doing it so I can live longer. I heard folks get depressed after a CV event but I actually feel optimistic. I survived and I realize what needs to change - my stressful environment. I'm not cleared for flight but I can hop on a train. So off I go to enjoy my second lease on life... And making better mindful decisions to keep it this time lolz XD
