“It’s all right, Sir. I’ll come out now.”Chris moved past him, his shoulders hunched. Nary’s heart picked up a rapid beat, the fear that Chris was sick filling him with worry. He tuned into Chris. What plagued his mate was unclear because the bond hadn’t been sealed yet. All he could sense was that something was off with his mate, but he couldn’t ascertain what it was. The only hint he had was the change in Chris’ demeanor after he’d met with his cousin. Maybe it’s not Chris who’s in trouble.Chris dropped onto the couch, his head down as he seemed to stare at nothing. Nary sat as close to him as he dared. He didn’t want to be rejected the way he’d been the night before when Lasar had left.
