7 Signs You May be Eating Too Much Sugar

You’ve probably heard that we have a problem with sugar in this country. Heck. Most of the developed world now has sugar issues. But maybe you’ve thought, “Well, I’m good because my sugar number is okay.” Or maybe, “I don’t eat ice cream every day. I’m good.” But friends, sugar sneaks into our days so many ways. I didn’t think I had a sugar problem either. Then I discovered the Starbucks drink I had EVERYDAY had double the amount of sugar my body could safely process each day. I was addicted. Maybe you are too. Check out these signs:



You can’t pass it up, even if you’re not hungry

Can you walk pass a candy jar after lunch and skip the mini candy bar? Or what about fresh baked cookies? Can you walk pass those? If you can’t say no to sugar right in front of your face, you may be addicted.



Tired in the afternoon

Do you drag after lunch? Have you ever gotten drowsy while driving? If you’re using too much sugar you may be spiking your insulin levels and crashing in the afternoon.



Dull skin or dark circles

Sugar is inflammatory. One of the places this inflammation makes itself known is your skin. Yep, not the best thing to add to your beauty routine.



You give it up for a couple days and then crave carbs

Craving and eating simple carbs like bread, pasta and pretzels is a replacement for sugar cravings. These foods give you the same spike in insulin and hit your “happy” receptors in the brain. Swapping one bad habit for another isn’t the same as getting off sugar.



Excess weight is hard to lose

It is super hard to lose weight when insulin levels in your body are high. When you have a sugar habit, insulin habits are too high. It’s important to regulate insulin levels if you want to lose weight.



Moody, crabby and brain fog

Too much sugar can cause hormones to get out of balance. This makes us more irritable and level headed.



Digestion is messed up

Heartburn, indigestion, gas and bloating can all be associated with too much sugar. Sugar messes with the entire digestive track.
