I loved this book so hard.
Now, I'm gonna let you all in on a little secret. Lean in close, let me whisper it to you. Are you ready? As soon as the MC's in nearly every contemporary romance novel I have ever read bump uglies, I stop reading. Even if it's only for an hour or so, without fail, I put the book down. Why? Because as strange as it may seem, I like it when they're in a good place -- relationship wise, not ... literally.
But, and this is the mother of all buts, at no time in Just Like That, did I want to tear myself away. Not once. Not after the first time Penny and Russ had window-fogging (yes, it was that steamy) sex, not when they declared their feelings for one another, not even when faced with obstacles I was almost certain they wouldn't overcome.
And I've been trying to figure out why.
Is it Nicola Rendell's humour? Possibly. The chemistry between the MC's? Maybe. The three dimensional supporting characters? Perhaps. The setting which positively demands you drink a cocktail while reading? Could be.
Or, is it the fact this author can seamlessly combine all of the above into one hell of an enjoyable story?
Abso-freaking-loutely.
Read it; you can thank me later.
