Thanks, Best Wishes, Apologies

Many thanks to all of you who have sent messages and/or requested goodreads friendships with me. My sincere apologies as well, as I do not regularly check in and am far too mysterious to cultivate any internet friendships. I really do appreciate your interest and support, though, and in my own mysterious way am sending you mysterious best wishes.

Yours truly,
TLS

Alyssa leming sweet

message 2: by Jim (new)

Jim Hardison I will place this obviously encoded communiqué in my bucket for future analysis. In the meantime, I will continue to eat pistachios.

message 3: by Rashae (new)

Rashae Pistachios are very good for your health, but chocolate tastes better. What does he mean by mysterious wishes???

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Is this, by any chance an encoded message?

message 5: by Rashae (new)

Rashae I hope so!!! Who wants to figure it out with me?

message 6: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa leming awesome

message 7: by Rashae (new)

Rashae Well. Where do we start?

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

I'll figure it out with you

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

The Slash between and/or could possibly be a good place to start

message 10: by Rashae (new)

Rashae Let's start from the beginning, although I don't see anything mysterious or clueish.

message 11: by Fran (new)

Fran hmmm me either.... still trying though!!

message 12: by Fran (new)

Fran very 'mysterious'

message 13: by Rashae (new)

Rashae Maybe mysterious is a scrambled word. What are they called again?

message 14: by Fran (new)

Fran hmm maybe.... they are called anagrams

message 15: by Rashae (new)

Rashae Oh. Yeah. I'll have to look. I'll get back to you on that.

message 16: by Fran (new)

Fran I searched it online here are the anagrams I found
http://wordsmith.org/anagram/anagram....

message 17: by Rashae (new)

Rashae All I saw that looked even remotely close was Mister You and that still doesn't really make any sense.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

Maybe TLS do not stand for his initials

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

Does not I meant

message 20: by Rashae (new)

Rashae Maybe. Do you know of any other important things either in the books or the world with those initials?

message 21: by Rashae (new)

Rashae Okay, I just found Top Law Schools, Transport Layer Security, and Times Literary Supplement. Oh, and Theatrical Lighting Systems. They could all mean something though.

message 22: by Fran (new)

Fran hmm you know how at the end of the first book on the back cover he write Mr.Benedict's first name in morse.... is there any morse or punctuation patterns?? I don't see any but maybe another pair of eyes might??

message 23: by Rashae (new)

Rashae I studied morse code for a time, and I don't really see anything besides the periods. There are three, but he kind of had to have them there.

message 24: by Fran (new)

Fran Yeah your right..... Maybe there is some kind of word pattern. He does say 'mysterious' a lot any other words??

message 25: by Rashae (new)

Rashae ?He uses the letter 'm' a lot?

message 26: by Fran (new)

Fran ok sooo this is what I found... M is the 13th letter in the alphabet and every 13th word is- requested, not, friendships, own, S. (from the TLS). All of the words that start with the letter M are- many, messages, me, my, and mysterious.... I rearranged the words in the first thing and the only logical thing I got was own friendships not requested (I ignored the S) any ideas??

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

S could refer to a character? friendships not requested sounds right. The message by Jim might also be a clue...
continue to eat pistachios?
Obviously coded communique?

message 28: by Rashae (new)

Rashae Well, let's call out to Jim then. JIM, JIM! Hopefully he will help us. But I really like the mixed words idea. What if we rearranged it even more...*thinking*...we could do 'requested friendships not my own' or 'many messages requested for friendship' There are so many options, what else could it mean? And maybe we need to narrow it down to letters instead or words. Like there is only one letter per word so the clue is altogether just one word.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Many messages requested for friendship sounds better

message 30: by Fran (new)

Fran hmmm yeah it does checking out the letters now!!! ok so I did every 13th letter and searched anagrams and nothing I thought revelvant came up... I'm going to reply to Jim's comment to see if he answers!

message 31: by Fran (new)

Fran hi Jim!! we think that your comment might be a clue... help please!!! If you read the comments you will see that Rashae, Josiah, and I (Frances) have been trying to figure it out. Please reply!!!

message 32: by Jim (new)

Jim Hardison I am too busy eating these pistachios to answer your request. If I could tear myself away, I might be able to tell you something useful, but these are shelled pistachios, and consequently labor intensive.

message 33: by Fran (new)

Fran ahhh I enjoy pistachios too. However I often eat various foods while typing as you did just a minute ago... and as it seems on the commercials for the pistachios they seem pretty easy to open. Please help us!

message 34: by Jim (new)

Jim Hardison Spiderman. The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. The Gruffalo. Sharks. Little Rock.

I've said too much.

message 35: by Fran (new)

Fran huh??? I'm confused please help us in english!!!
and are you really 47?

message 36: by Jim (new)

Jim Hardison Yes

message 37: by Fran (new)

Fran hmmmm well ok I guess please help

message 38: by Jim (new)

Jim Hardison _ .... .
_... _ _ _ _.. .
.. ...
_ .... .
._ _ _ _ _ ._. _.. ...

message 39: by Fran (new)

Fran 1E
BODE
IS
6E
WOKDS
what is that supposed to mean??

message 40: by Jim (new)

Jim Hardison Ack. The blank spaces didn't show up! Let me try again.

_ .... .

message 41: by Jim (new)

Jim Hardison Nope. Still no spaces. I'll put slashes.

_/..../.
_.../_ _ _/_../.
../...
_/..../.
._ _/_ _ _/._./_../...

message 42: by Fran (new)

Fran the bode is the words... is it supposed to be code... and what do you mean by that... (help please from Rashae and Josiah!!)

message 43: by Fran (new)

Fran the bode is the words.... hmm do you mean code not bode and what do you mean by that??

message 44: by Jim (new)

Jim Hardison Ah yes. My pet monkey has miss-typed the "C" as a "B". This is the hazard of trying to send coded messages whilst eating pistachios.

Bad monkey.

I was trying to say that I believe the secret message is actually the literal message. Having analyzed the content every which way and then three more ways for good measure, I think the simplest explanation is simply that he means what he says. Either that, or I am lying.

message 45: by Fran (new)

Fran hmmm well then there is always the hope that you are indeed lying... And yes I often misspell things when I am eating and typing... Does your pet monkey eat pistachios also?

message 46: by Jim (new)

Jim Hardison He's is not allowed pistachios as he is highly allergic. While this is unfortunate for Chimchim, it is fortunate for me because it frees up his nimble fingers for typing Morse code while I am enjoying my pistachios. Of course, he is much more familiar with sending encoded messages by flashlight or tapping, hence his error in transcribing the letter "C". He is duly sorry.

message 47: by Fran (new)

Fran oh tell Chimchim that its ok... what kind of monkey is he??

message 48: by Jim (new)

Jim Hardison He is a Capuchin. He has a little suit.

message 49: by Jim (new)

Jim Hardison Capuchins, in my opinion, make the best in-home monkeys.

message 50: by Jim (new)

Jim Hardison But I would generally recommend females.
