While the second instalment of
The Hand of the Khryseoi trilogy has been delayed, I have two new projects in the works. I’ve started the fourth story in the
Outside Inside series, which has the working title
Goddammit, Larry! While I plan to write it in a much more straightforward style than
Henry & Isa or
The Bunker, the plot is anything but straightforward. I’m having a lot of fun writing it and look forward to sharing more about the story soon.
Project two is nearing completion. This is a longish short story that has been in the works for some time. The premise isn’t totally my idea, but nobody has written the story as far as I can tell, so I thought I’d give it a crack.
Not long ago, I reread Stephen King’s book
On Writing. When I hit the chapter where he explains how it’s a writer’s job to identify juxtaposing but complimentary ideas, he provides this as an example:
“People love to read about work. God knows why, but they do. If you’re a plumber who enjoys science fiction, you might well consider a novel about a plumber aboard a starship or on an alien planet… Be brave. Map the enemy’s positions, come back, tell us what you know. And remember that plumbers in space is not such a bad setup for a story.”
Stephen King, On Writing. Thanks, Stephen. Space Plumber is nearing completion. The expected release date is 7th December 2017.
