February 14th is not only Valentine's Day. It is also the day that the giveaway for my new novelette, "My Name is Rebecca: A Novelette," ends. Historical fiction, it is about a man and his sons who come to America in the early 1900s to escape religious persecution. What started out as a tribute to my mother's family evolved into a tribute to all of those whose families came to America during that era, regardless of where they came from, who they were or why they came.
While it is fiction, there are some stories that I heard while growing up, and one incident that I experienced myself.
Just a couple of side notes: the picture on the cover is my mother in 1931 when she was four years old. And the second--my parents were engaged on Valentine's Day in 1949. So, it is indeed a special day.
