Life can come at us in many different ways and it can be overwhelming. I had one patient encounter the other day who was suffering from a lot of anxiety and depression. She told me there has been bullying at her workplace, a possibility of moving to another state due to husband's job change, and the challenge of taking care of 5 children really overwhelmed her. I told her that in the end, life still comes at you in many directions. It is all about getting up more times than falling down. Here are the tips I presented:
1. Have a support system.
2. Have a gratitude practice.
3. Have a system of release: exercise, yoga, meditation, deep breathing.
4. Reshift your focus: take every negative experience and see what lesson you glean from each one.
You will always matter because you are connected to a lot of people. They need you. You just need the tools to rise up.
