Highway of the Horse
I just published my first gamebook!
(In case you don't know what a gamebook is, it's a "Choose Your Own Adventure"-type branching narrative, involving making decisions that direct you to different pages and result in different endings).
I've worked on it off and on probably since 2012. It was an unusual process, much different from typical fiction writing. I had to teach myself along the way, but it was worth it.
Imagine that you traveling on a two-lane highway, and there's a painfully slow horse trailer in front of your car. No matter what you do, you can't pass around it (without dying, of course). You pull off the road here and there, running into misadventure after misadventure.
