A professor once told me that our thirties are the decade when we realize we don't want to be anything like our parents…but we are. I proudly remember being a precocious six-year-old when I first concluded I wanted to be nothing like my mother. Now, I am nearing my thirties. I still have no desire to be like her—but every day, I realize I am.
