Wow. I was shocked and sad to learn of the passing of Chadwick Boseman at the too-soon-age of 43. Boseman starred in two of my son’s favorite movies of all time, “42” and “Black Panther,” and so Boseman was often on the television screen in our basement with a group of boys watching him. Somehow, I felt like I knew him through his characters—brave, strong and fighting for something better. Today, when I learned he was filming movies while enduring chemo and surgeries to battle back against colon cancer, I was even more blown away by the real-life heroics of this man who played larger-than-life characters like Jackie Robinson, Thurgood Marshall and King T’Challa. Boseman was gone too soon but he will never be forgotten. Thank you for the lasting gift of all your inspiring movies. Fly high.
Actors like Boseman inspire us to write about superheroes everyday in The Whitney Forbes series. Book two, THE LIGHT BRINGER’S WAY, is #FREE today.
