In Want of a Wife
Well, I've done it in record time.
Over the 24 years of writing and publishing titles, only twice did I release two books in one year. Mostly I released at the rate of about one title a year.
But a good writer colleague friend of mine, Narelle Atkins, has been trying to school me in the ways of making the most of algorithms, and I was horrified to learn that if you don't get your next title out within 90 days, you fall off the algorithm cliff.
Ninety Days! Aaargh.
That was a big ask. As it turned out, I had all three books in the series already written, so all I needed to do was go through the processes of rewrites, edits, designs, setting etc. I was able to get the pre-orders on various platforms within the 90 days, but took another month to get the book ready for readers. I have noticed the drop away significantly in the last couple of weeks. The first book in the series had been in the top 20 of Koorong Bookstore's fiction section for three months, and in the last two weeks has fallen away.
Gasp.
Anyway, now I had better get my skates on and get Book #3 ready to go before June. I also have to get you and all the readers in reading land to grab a copy of Book#2. In case you hadn't caught which series I'm talking about, it is the Luella Linley - License to Meddle series (Organized Backup). I've had some wonderful responses to the series, and am hoping to engage a new group of readers, so any reading, reviewing and sharing that you do will be forever appreciated.
