Rain, rain
This morning it rained and rained and rained. We got the whole crew dressed and ready for church but were unable to get out of our neighborhood due to flooding (with threats of more flooding). Our girls were devastated. But we asked that they trust us to make the right choice for them, even if they couldn’t understand why.
At this point in the year, we are pretty good at home church. So my husband swung by the Dollar General a block away for communion supplies and led us in a devotional about Noah’s Ark (of course). We talked about how important it is to trust in God. He took care of Noah just like He promised.
Do you ever feel like God is hitting you extra hard with a certain lesson? Later that morning, I turned on the next Bible lesson in the YouTube series our kids have been watching. It was on peace and the parable of the workers in the vineyard from Matthew 20:1-16. The teacher was making the point that Jesus asked listeners not to grumble and complain, to be peacemakers. Part of having peace and–to me–the main point of that parable is trust in God. If we trust Him, even when we can’t see what is ahead, we can have peace. If we are at war with our Creator instead of working with Him and trusting in His will, we will never have true peace.
