The Journey: Oceans of the World
Hi Everyone!
Book 3: The Journey in the epic fantasy series, The Eagre, is now available on Amazon.
In this post, I would like to talk a little about the oceans of the planet and the course of the Wandering Fleet.
The Atonkaris Continent is surrounded by four oceans: the Epiphany’s Ocean, the Ferocious Ocean, the Incandescent Ocean, and the South Ocean. The last two oceans adjoin the shores of the northern and southern hells, so the fleets never set off in this direction in search of the ancient ancestral home and unknown lands.
Every sixteen years the fleets of the Journey sail out to the ocean in search of the land of the Shining Empire. Not a single ship has yet returned. Normally, the fleets would go east to the Epiphany’s Ocean, as the Shining Empire's continent is believed to be located somewhere to the east. Sometimes fleets sailed west into the Ferocious Ocean, but these expeditions also vanished without a trace. This ocean is famous for violent storms and tempests.
Therefore, the Epiphany’s Ocean has become the most studied. Since ancient times, fleets have tried to convey messages about themselves using sealed bottles, but these bottles reached the shores of Atonkaris only from a distance of two to three thousand miles and did not report anything important. Only once was a message received about an expedition of a hundred years ago, which had successfully advanced eight thousand miles to the southeast.
For the past fifty years, sailors have used albatrosses and sea terns to send messages. Sixteen years ago, the albatross, the Faithful, returned with news of Saydion's expedition. The prince reported that his fleet had advanced eleven thousand miles to the northeast. Storms and insurgencies left him with only five ships out of sixteen, but the surviving sailors were devoted to their naval commander and to fulfilling the purpose of the Journey.
The prevailing ideas about the universe prescribed that the oceans stretched to the west and east endlessly. But in recent decades, information has been obtained about the sphericity of the planet. Obviously, the planet is quite large and holds many secrets, some of which are revealed in Book 3: The Journey
