I want to say thank you to the Horror Writers Association, Cemetery Dance Publications, all of the members, organizations, and authors who stood up and demanded swift action against a HWA member/author who openly spewed transphobia and hatred. There is no place in this world for such small-minded bigotry.

As a mother, I am the proud mother of two LGBTQ+ children, one who is trans. I worry for the world they are surrounded by and hope they find nothing but understanding and kindness in the paths which cross their own. It can be scary knowing there are people who hate them just because they exist. To know people want to harm them because they are true to themselves.

As an author, I strive to include LGBTQ+ characters in my stories, not as a trope or fetish, rather as our neighbors, children, siblings, parents, co-workers, lovers, community. As this IS WHAT THEY ARE. Our extended and sometimes immediate family.

Those who think they can spout hatred, your time is over. You cannot hide behind your titles, your humor, your history, your clique. You will be called out and you will be brought down.
