Little Rain, and the little Princess who composed the original

This one will forever hold a place in my heart. My girlfriend at the time and I had just arrived at the Cape and were pulling into a grocery store to stock up for the week when it started to rain. No sooner did it become a downpour when we hastily decided to wait it out in the car -for the puddles were quickly ascending to ankle length. At best, the mood pervading our automobile could be described as disconcerting as we had been dreaming of pleasant beach days in our newly purchased beach chairs for months. My little one meanwhile -she was probably two or three at the time- sat quietly behind me whispering to herself completely unaware of the two adults and their discontentment in the front. After some minutes of watching the dashing shoppers splashing about, I listened, instead becoming rather curious about the earnest whispering from the car seat behind me. Listening closer, I was able to discern my little one was in fact singing to herself, truly unabashed as she remained unaware of my close observations. I thought I heard a bunny being referenced and then it was the rain. Next, there was a mommy character she was cooing about and finally, I heard her repeat Little Rain, as a sort of happy refrain. With the actual rain lessening, I was able to more closely observe the careful elocution of her words -so sincere, so precious; for, how else can I describe it? The rain continued to subside and she whispered amiably on about Little Rain -who had by now taken on the full vestige of a fairy tale protagonist- looking for her mommy as it were, who I can only assume already trickled by her window amidst all the other little trickles of rain who ran along themselves. I wrote of this to an old boyhood companion of mine, Noel Smyth, who bides his time composing melodies on his speaking guitar. I told him perhaps he might do well with it, verse chorus verse, type deal. I doubt my friend's own rendition shared here matches up to the original -indeed, I passed it on to him the only way I knew how; from the father’s limited point of view. https://open.spotify.com/track/0VnxPY...
