Open question, GoodReads readers!
What do you feel is the difference between suspense and thrillers? I classify most of my books as suspense. In fact I get grumpy when a review dings a book with “this isn’t a thriller.” Exactly right! I actually refer to my books as “psychological suspense” because I love suspense that gets deep into internal POV and personal issues.
One of the adages I’ve heard is that with suspense, you have no idea who the bad guy is. With a thriller, you often know exactly who the antagonist is and the thrill lies in the chase. (That definitely applies to my Jane Doe thrillers.) Then, of course, there are police procedurals, crime fiction, mysteries, spy games, etc.
WHAT’S YOUR TAKE? How do you define suspense vs. thrillers?
