I've known for a while that I might have to write this post, and it doesn't make it any easier.
M. Caspian, who I cowrote a book with a few years ago, has passed away after a long battle with cancer. We only wrote that one book, and had plans to write more except first we didn't find the time, and then all of M's energy was spent on focussing on her health, and at times it was brutal.
If you have ever been in mm circles on Goodreads, you might know M as the reviewer Emma Sea. That's how we first met. Her reviews were thoughtful and clever, sometimes intimidatingly so to a newish author like me who should have known better than to read reviews, but they were never wrong! We read and loved the same books, and we were often online at the same time, chatting away when the Americans were asleep down here in NZ and Australia respectively.
We only met up once in person, in the US for GRL, and she was as wonderful in real life as she was online.
I'm sharing this news with the permission of M's daughter. Fallout, the book we wrote and published together, will also remain available to buy, again with the permission of M's daughter.
It's hard to find the right words to say at a time like this, and I think M it best in her final email to me: "I'm so very happy to have bumped into you on the timeline."
